Chronology
Miami, 1991
When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, young Dexter Morgan must learn to channel his inner darkness as he goes from college student to vengeful serial killer with the guidance of his father, Harry. Christian Slater is older than James Remar was when Dexter (2006) first aired. Followed by Dexter: Resurrection (2025). I am a huge Dexter fan, through and through.
Like Harry (according to Dexter), change doesn’t come easy to me
Dexter (seasons 1-8) is the only show I watch all the time. So when Dexter: New Blood came out, at first, the change of scenery, the cold weather, the absence of some beloved cast members, and the lack of humor and Latin music were huge disappointments to me. However, after watching it as a standalone series (without comparison to the original), I eventually grew interested in it. Now, with this new series, of course, we’re not used to the new faces in the cast.
Yes, we all wish that Michael C
We all remember that young Dexter, Deb, and Harry looked different, even Laura Moser. However, I think it’s perhaps unfair to judge the casting since we’re not in the shoes of the casting directors and producers. I think they had to consider a lot of things besides just resemblance. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, James Remar, and the rest of the original cast could magically play younger versions of their own characters, but time only works one way.
(Bonus: I really like Christian Slater
He’s awesome as always!) So far, after watching the first episode twice, I like it. I think everyone did a pretty decent job of filling those big Dexter shoes. I can’t deny, in fact, that I’m now even more excited to watch Dexter: Resurrection after getting a glimpse of Dexter being resuscitated in the ER. In short, I think this show is cool and I’ll probably enjoy it even more as time goes on.
I think you’ll enjoy it!
