Chronology

I love this show, but it can be very frustrating to watch at times.
She doesn’t even remotely resemble a 16-year-old
The acting is decent, but as many have pointed out, the casting is a bit ridiculous. The main character, who plays a 16-year-old girl, is almost 30 years old. The actors playing the teenagers are already too old for the roles they’re given, and it ruins the immersion for me a bit. Is it really that hard to find decent actors who at least look their age for the roles they’re playing?
But that’s hardly the main problem
The story is good at a high level, but the details are what make this show fall apart. All the drama and tension is created by the characters doing stupid things. The stupidity ranges from mild to incredibly dense, but it’s always what drives the drama. It’s hard to find likable characters when they’re constantly doing stupid things and never learning or growing.
And it’s not just teenagers who are stupid
None of the cops follow procedure because if they did, the story wouldn’t happen. Every time a character does something smart, it has to be ruined by someone doing something incredibly stupid, because then the story wouldn’t happen again. I wish the writers had spent a little more time figuring out different ways to move the story forward, maybe by having the antagonists be smart instead of the heroes be stupid. I just finished season 2 and you won’t regret watching it.
