Chronology
The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes a living by carrying out high-paying hits
He soon meets a tough British intelligence officer who tracks him down in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. “Day of the Jackal”; The novel is set in 1963 and involves an assassination attempt on then-French President Charles de Gaulle.
A remake of The Day of the Jackal (1973)
The show moves the setting to the present day. Lashana Lynch is not a lead actress, in fact I’ve seen much better acting in local amateur theatre.
Redmayne and co
It’s a real shame because she’s not at all convincing in her role. turn in strong performances, but Lynch’s weak central performance ruins the show for me.
Her lack of authenticity makes you uninterested in her family troubles
I also really wish they hadn’t dragged out the series: there are a lot of filler scenes and plot lines that they don’t feel are necessary or particularly relevant to the overall plot. I really hope the show picks up with more episodes, but I don’t think it does enough to redeem itself.
