I watched it in 2024
at the Sundance Film Festival. I don’t often see films from Peru because Peruvian cinema is very rare.
As one of the few Peruvian films I’ve seen, this one is very good
Filmmaker Klaudia Reynicke definitely takes a personal and interesting look at the family dynamic between father and daughters, and the dynamic was well executed with good performances, strong direction and very good dialogue moments. There is very good camera work throughout the film as well as production, set design and presentation design throughout the film.
Overall it’s a good movie, warm and cute
The story is simple and although predictable and a bit cheesy, the emotional core, direction and good performances help keep the story interesting. Including some interesting insights into Peru’s political turmoil and the dynamic father-son relationship.
