Production costs for “Red One” (2024) reportedly exceed $250 million

After Santa Claus (codenamed Red One) is kidnapped, the North Pole’s security chief (Dwayne Johnson) must team up with the world’s most notorious bounty hunter (Chris Evans) to save Christmas on an action-packed mission around the globe. (The Wrap) Dwayne Johnson is budgeted at $50 million, making him the highest-paid actor of all time.
The previous record was $40 million, tied with Robert Downey Jr
for “The Nightmare Before Christmas” (2016) and Will Smith for “King Richard” (2021). Johnson’s previous highest salaries were $22 million for “King Richard” (2021) and $20 million for “Hobbs and Shaw” (2019).
Don’t expect a perfect plot or deep narrative from this film
Johnson’s salary on Red One could be higher to make up for the lack of box office numbers, as the film was originally intended to be released as a direct-to-video film. (Screen Rant).
However, if you’re looking for an action-packed Christmas movie with interesting holiday stories, cool characters, and fun gimmicks, it’s worth checking out
While some of the character development leaves something to be desired, the acting is solid overall and there are some really funny moments if you’re in the right mood. The film mixes Christmas magic with intense action sequences in a fun way, even if some parts of the story might feel unrealistic.
